LJBLegal Injury Scholarship for 2026 Graduates
LJBLegal is proud to support two local students through the LJBLegal Injury Scholarship, awarded to one graduating senior from Hahnville High School and one from Destrehan High School. This scholarship recognizes students whose lives have been shaped by a serious injury, long-term health condition, or a similar challenge, whether they experienced it personally or through someone they love.
Each recipient will receive $2,000 in total scholarship support, paid as $250 per semester for up to eight semesters while enrolled at a four-year university. Applicants must submit a 300 to 500 word essay about how a serious injury or health challenge has impacted them or someone close to them. Essays must be submitted by March 1.
This scholarship reflects our commitment to encouraging resilience, supporting education, and investing in the future of students in our community.

Free Notary Services at St. Charles Parish Libraries
Our team at Loyd J. Bourgeois Injury & Accident Lawyer has partnered with the St. Charles Parish Library to bring free notary public services to adults in our community.
On the third Thursday of each month, Loyd or another LJB Legal attorney will visit a different library branch to notarize documents at no cost. No appointment needed—just walk in between 1 and 2 pm.
March 19 – Paradis Branch
April 16 – St. Rose Branch
May 21 – Norco Branch
What you need to know:
- Notarization only—we won’t be drafting documents or giving legal advice
- If your document needs witnesses, please bring them with you
- All signers must bring a valid photo ID

12 Days of Christmas Giveaway
Every holiday season, we celebrate our community through our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway. Each day, we feature one of our favorite local businesses and give away a $50 gift card to help spread a little extra cheer. It is our way of supporting the businesses that make our community feel like home.
Entering is simple. Follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter, The Key Piece. Each winner receives a gift card to the business highlighted that day, and winners are announced on our social channels and contacted by email. Winners pick up their gift card at our Luling or Metairie office.
We love putting on this giveaway because it helps us lift up local businesses, connect with our neighbors, and share the joy of the season.
Supporting Our Community Through Lawyers in Libraries
Each year, I’m proud to volunteer with the Louisiana State Bar Association’s “Lawyers in Libraries” program. An initiative dedicated to giving back and increasing access to legal help for people across our state. The program connects attorneys with local residents at parish library branches to provide free, one-on-one consultations and help answer common civil-legal questions.
Consultations usually last 15–20 minutes and are designed to help people better understand their legal rights and next steps.
What makes this program so special is its focus on access. Legal help can sometimes feel out of reach, especially for those unsure where to start. By bringing lawyers directly into the community, the program makes it easier for people to get trusted answers in a welcoming, familiar space—their local library.
No appointment is required. Participants simply check in at the library’s front desk and are placed on the wait list to meet with a volunteer attorney. Bringing any related documents can be helpful, but it’s not necessary.
At LJBLegal, we believe in supporting our neighbors, not just through our work in the courtroom, but through community service that helps people feel informed and empowered. Programs like Lawyers in Libraries are a reminder that everyone deserves access to reliable legal information and compassionate guidance, no matter their situation.

LJBLegal Fully Funds Dolly Parton Imagination Library for St. Charles Parish
We are proud to share that Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will remain fully funded in St. Charles Parish, ensuring that every child from birth to age 5 will continue receiving a free book every month.
Since United Way of St. Charles first launched the program here in 2010, nearly 239,584 books have been mailed to local children. Today, more than 1,200 kids are enrolled, and with this commitment, every eligible child in our parish has the chance to build their own library of up to 60 books before starting school.
Kacy Kernan, Director of Community Impact, shared:
Because of their generosity, children in our community will continue to receive the gift of books each month—opening the doors to imagination, learning, and a lifelong love of reading.
Celebrating Art and Community in Old Luling
Our LJBLegal team had a fantastic evening at the second annual Paul Maillard Business & Arts Initiative Art Show. This event brings together talented local artists and community members, all while raising awareness and support for the revitalization of Old Luling.
Emma fell in love with some beautiful pieces by Mandy Mae Fine Art, and Lindy and Loyd brought home a one-of-a-kind creation from LRDesigns. A highlight of the evening was watching Hayley Roussel Art create a stunning live painting of the Old Church Luling venue.
It was a wonderful night filled with creativity, community spirit, and support for the arts. We were proud to be sponsors again this year and to join friends in celebrating the arts right here in St. Charles Parish.

Sharing Stories with Our Young Neighbors
Loyd had such a heartwarming experience serving as the guest reader for “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” community story time at the St. Charles Parish Library West Regional Branch in Luling.
The event was part of the LSBA Louisiana Lawyers in Libraries Week, which connects attorneys with local communities in meaningful ways.
The children’s smiles and enthusiasm made the day unforgettable. Thank you to the library for hosting, and here’s to continuing to nurture a love for both reading and the law in our youngest neighbors.
Showing Love to Our St. Charles Parish Teachers and School Staff
One of our goals at LJBLegal is to give back to our community, and we thought our amazing teachers and school support staff were the perfect place to start.
This year, we kicked off a new program to support a different St. Charles Parish Public School each month by donating coffee, snacks, and other treats to their teachers’ lounge. It’s our small way of saying thank you for the big impact they have on our children and our community.
Teaching, guiding, and inspiring the next generation is no easy task, and in St. Charles Parish we are fortunate to have one of the best school systems in Louisiana thanks to the dedication of our teachers and support personnel.
We started in February by recognizing the incredible teachers and staff at Lakewood Elementary in Luling—the same school where all three of Loyd’s children (and his wife) learned what it means to be a St. Charles Parish student.
We hope they enjoyed the caffeine, snacks, and a little reminder of how much they are appreciated. Thank you for your patience, guidance, and care in shaping the future leaders of our parish, our state, and our world.
St Charles Strong T-Shirts
For years we’ve donated Hahnville themed shirts to the Hahnville High Robotics Team’s t-shirt cannon to launch into the crowd for football games. When we learned the first football game after the devastation of Hurricane Ida would be Hahnville vs Destrehan, we designed a special shirt for the occasion.
The design featured the iconic Hale Boggs Bridge filled with the names of towns and neighborhoods across our parish. A tribute to the strength and unity of St. Charles Parish.
The response from the community was immediate and enthusiastic. Everyone was asking if they could buy one
So due to popular demand, we made the shirts available to the public.
All proceeds from shirt sales and sponsorships supported a special fund through the United Way of St. Charles, benefiting the St. Charles Parish Public Schools Foundation to help teachers replace classroom materials lost during the storm. Thanks to the community’s support, we were able to donate $5,000 to the fund.
“Take a Load Off” Teacher Giveaway
Louisiana’s teachers are shaping the minds of tomorrow, and following the pandemic, they took on unprecedented loads. Loyd J. Bourgeois Injury & Accident Lawyer wants to show its appreciation for the teachers in St. Charles Parish by “taking a load” off of teachers’ shoulders!
Parish residents have the opportunity to nominate their favorite St. Charles Parish Public School teacher for a gift certificate good for two free loads of laundry service from “Drop a Load” in Norco.
