Family Law Attorney

Who you are: First and foremost, you love helping people with their family law issues (divorce, custody, community property, adoptions, etc.). We envision you are well on your way to becoming a superstar attorney and you prefer to do the legal work versus the business side of the practice (you know – the marketing, collections, etc.). You are a go-getter with drive and an ability to learn quickly, but you also see things through to the end. You are technically adept and able to handle many moving parts with style and grace. You can have a bulldog mentality when needed but you are not a jerk. You can handle changes to routine effortlessly and like to improve along the way. And, you are detailed oriented, great with follow-up, and your clients, friends, and family agree on your trustworthiness and dependability. Louisiana bar license required.

What you will do:  You will handle a growing docket of family law cases including hearings, client meetings, preparing motions and discovery, and generally helping manage the caseload, move cases towards a successful conclusion, and provide the care and compassion our clients expect. You will provide guidance and recommendations directly to clients, work with other necessary parties in family law cases from filings through final judgments and beyond, including but not limited to: initial interviews and investigations, monitoring and advising on other client concerns, negotiating with opposing counsel, and others, obtaining statements and other helpful information needed for successful resolution of cases, filing petitions, conducting depositions, preparing and responding to motions, discovery, and other necessary trial work. You will provide direction and assistance to our intake team for new potential cases and help our growing firm establish and follow best practices. You may follow up on representation agreements, scheduled appointments, and ensure callers and clients are treated with compassion and care. You will utilize our case management system to ensure our cases are flowing properly and you will be primarily responsible for the success of our family law practice area. You will work hard and become a valuable asset on our team handling cases across the area and extended area!

Who we are: We are a small firm based in Luling, Louisiana with a second office in Metairie (by appointment only). We serve a diverse clientele and have complimentary practice areas. Our focus is on great results while showing care to our clients, potential clients, and team. We offer a great quality of life and a friendly atmosphere.

Compensation: Guaranteed base plus a percentage of collections depending on experience, ability, and your own hustle.

Our firm offers semi-flexible scheduling, PTO, and 401(k) after 90 days. We provide professional development and strive to help our team members reach their personal and professional goals.

How to Apply

You must send an email from your own account – do not send your application or resume through indeed.

  1. Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line – “I want the associate attorney position.”
  2. In your email (cover letter), tell us the following:
    1. Tell us a little about a recent book or movie or performance you really enjoyed and why it resonated with you;
    2. Tell us why you want this job right now and how this job will help you move towards your long-term career goals;
    3. Tell us why you are a better candidate than any other;
    4. Tell us your expected pay range; and
    5. Attach a recent (within the last year) legal writing sample.
  3. Attach your resume and other required documents as a PDF file.  Only PDF files will be considered. Also, please don’t use a canned resume builder offered through the job site.  It does not help you stand out.
  4. Make sure your spelling, grammar, and syntax are correct in everything you send!

Why do we do this – We are looking for a certain type of individual to join our team. We have found those who do not take the time to complete this process are not well suited for our firm. Just completing the process doesn’t tell us you are going to be a good fit – but we know quickly who is not a good fit.
