A Pizza Delivery Driver Hit Rachel on Jefferson Highway
Rachel* was driving westbound on Jefferson Highway in Jefferson when a pizza delivery driver pulled out from a parking lot and entered the center lane. As traffic moved toward the Hyman Road intersection, the delivery driver tried to merge into Rachel’s lane before clearing her vehicle.
The front of the delivery vehicle struck the right rear of Rachel’s car. Police cited the pizza delivery driver for improper lane usage.
Rachel Was Hurt and Struggled to Keep Up
After the crash, Rachel told her doctors her body was thrown on impact. She was later diagnosed with soft tissue injuries to her cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.
Her pain affected more than her body. Rachel was in school and working a job requiring physical labor. After the collision, concentrating became harder, and the physical demands of work were no longer safe for her. She missed an estimated 62 days of work, which added financial stress while she was trying to recover.
The No Pay No Play Law Created a Legal Hurdle
Rachel was cited for not having active insurance at the time of the crash. Because the collision happened in February 2025, Louisiana’s No Pay No Play law applied. This meant she could not recover the first $15,000 of her bodily injury damages.
For many injury victims, this kind of issue can make a case feel hopeless. Rachel did not face it alone. She found our firm online, called the same day, and chose to move forward.
We Filed Suit and Built the Case
Insurance had made a low pre-suit offer. We filed suit and conducted discovery to prove what happened, document Rachel’s injuries, and show how the crash affected her ability to work and keep up with life.
By developing the facts and damages, we were able to push past the early offer and pursue a better result.
A Higher Settlement After Litigation
Rachel ultimately received a substantial settlement much higher than the insurance company’s last pre-suit offer.
Her case shows how one crash can affect your health, income, school, and peace of mind. It also shows why legal help matters, especially when insurance companies try to pay as little as possible or when laws like No Pay No Play make recovery more complicated.
